Michele is a fully licensed Masterís Social Worker who has worked in the field since 2001 in a variety of roles. She has a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Clinical / Community Psychology from the University of Michigan-Flint, as well as earning her Masterís in Social Work from Wayne State University. Michele has a varied background with experience treating preschool age children on up through geriatric populations through individual, group and family settings. She has worked in school, residential, inpatient and outpatient settings as well as conducting marketing, outreach and community presentations.

Julie Gordon joined Blue Water Counseling in March 2010. Ms. Gordon lived in the Croswell area for 38 years with her husband. Together they raised 3 daughters ages 35, 29 and 25 and one son age 33. They have been blessed with 11 year old boy and girl twin grandchildren, a 17 month old grandson and a 3 month old granddaughter. They also share their home with two Golden Retrievers and a brand new Schnauzer puppy! She was a stay at home mom until she was 41 and decided it was time to go to school. Her goal was to receive her masterís degree before she reached the age of 50! She started at St. Clair County Community College and received her Associateís Degree. From there she went on to Rochester College where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Counseling Psychology. A week after her graduation she started her Masterís Program and in 2007 graduated with an Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology (3 months before her 50th birthday!!). Also during the completion of her Masterís degree she became a Certified Advanced Alcohol and other Drug Counselor. Her career up until joining BWC was working in inpatient substance abuse rehabilitation. She still really enjoys working with this population. She also enjoys working with women suffering anxiety and depression or weight issues. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, reading, crafting, photography, snowmobiling, cross country skiing and kayaking.

Jenn Heinz has worked as a clinician for Blue Water Counseling since 2013. She received her Bachelorís degree from Eastern Michigan University with a major in Psychology and a minor in Literature. She went on to earn her Masterís degree in Counseling from Spring Arbor University in 2006. Jenn has worked in the mental health and helping field for over 10 years with a wide range of experience including: domestic violence shelters, youth residential facilities, foster care, Native American reservations and home based services. Her passion lies within helping others to advocate for and empower themselves. She provides counseling for individuals, children/adolescents, couples and famies. Some of her specialties include trauma and abuse, parenting, self worth/esteem, self harm behaviors, personality disorders and LGBT concerns. Jenn works in both the Fort Gratiot office and the Lexington office. She resides with her family in Lexington.

Jennifer Keizer Horbes has been a clinician at Blue Water Counseling since 2002. She received her Bachelorís Degree from Central Michigan University with a Major in Psychology and Minors in Spanish and Religion, and her Masterís Degree in Clinical Psychology from Appalachian State University. Her Masterís thesis was entitled ďPerceptions of Parenting, Early Maladaptive Schemas, and Symptoms of Depression.Ē She provides counseling services for individuals and families with a variety of concerns, with specialty in depression, anxiety, relationship problems, g/l/b/t concerns, parenting, and stress management. She also enjoys administering assessments such as cognitive and achievement assessments for Port Huron Area School District and personality assessments for Port Huron Police Department. Jennifer is happily married and resides locally with her husband, two German Shepherd Dogs, and a cat. In her spare time she enjoys reading, cooking, being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

Immediately following she began the Masters in Counseling program at Oakland University. Lindsay graduated from OU with her MA in Counseling in 2011. Lindsay worked as a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor for approximately 3 years. During this time she obtained her CAADC which qualifies her to work with substance abuse and addictions. Lindsay also has experience working with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and stress and anger management. She became fully licensed with her LPC in 2014. Lindsay has a passion for working with people to better themselves and guide them to make the changes in their life that they are seeking out.

Kari obtained her teaching degree in Elementary Education, with minors in math, science and Spanish, from Western Michigan University. She worked in education for 5 years prior to obtaining her Master's Degree in Counseling from Central Michigan University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and has over 15 years counseling experience. She is also a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor (CAADC) and has extensive experience working with substance abuse and addictions. She also has expereince working with co-occuring disorders, co-dependency, depression and anxiety disoders, post-traumatic stress, bi-piolar disorder, personality disorders, relationship and family problems, stress and anger management, grief and loss, childhood behavior problems, school problems and with survivors of abuse. "I loved teaching, but decided to go back and get my Master's Degree in Counseling as I wanted to better help children and adults cope with the many stressors and difficuties life can bring to us all at times." Kari lives with her 18 year old son, who is in his first year of college at St. Clair County Community College and their snoodle (snauzer/poodle mix). She enjoys hiking, reading, writing poetry, going to the gym, and spending time with friends and family.

Dr. Samantha Koren joined Blue Water Counseling in June of 2014. She received her Bachelorís degree from University of Arizona with a major in Psychology and a minor in Speech and Hearing Sciences. She went on to earn her Masterís Degree in Counseling from Capella University in 2008 and her doctorate degree in Counseling in 2012. Samantha has worked in the mental health and related fields for 7 years with a wide range of experience. She has extensive training and experience in the provision of supervision to counseling interns and limited licensed professionals. From this foundation, she has a solid understanding of the role that a counselor fulfills to assist clients in fulfilling their goals and objectives during the counseling process. In addition, she has an extensive background in working with developmentally disabled children and adults.

She is licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse and a Nurse Practitioner by the State of Michigan. Dr. Shelly Papinaw is a resident of Port Huron, who lives with her husband and two Boston Terriers. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and has been in the counseling profession for approximately seven years. She has been employed at Blue Water Counseling since June 2012 and is comfortable working with the various clientele, which includes children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. She has extensive experience helping others who are dealing with mood and anxiety disorders, relationship issues, and substance abuse, among other client concerns. Shelly is passionate about helping to empower clients to achieve a healthy state of mind and spirit, which allows them to fulfill their highest potential. She has recently graduated from Oakland University with a Ph.D. in Counselor Education. Her dissertation was titled, "Perceptions of Support for Parolees and Their Identified Social Support Systems." In addition to her work at BWC, she is also an adjunct professor in the Human Service program at a local college and supervises Limited License Counselors (LLPC) who are in need of supervision in order to obtain full licensure. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with loved ones, reading biking, jogging, and watching movies.

Francine joined Blue Water Counseling in August of 2015. Ms. Robinson has worked for the past six years as a licensed counselor in the Port Huron area and is a life long native of the area, aside from the 14 years she resided in the Chicago area in early adulthood. Francine completed her undergraduate studies at Rockford College/University in Rockford, Illinois where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Childhood Development while also completing her teaching certification in middle school science, social studies and English language arts. Ms. Robinson formerly taught science in Illinois and Social Studies in the Port Huron area at the middle school level. Francine then completed her Master's Degree in professional counseling at Central Michigan University, followed by obtaining her school guidance counseling certification and full professional nationwide counseling licensure. Ms. Robinson is passionate and experienced at working with adults, teens and adolescents!

Michelle Siev began working as a therapist for Blue Water Counseling in March 2015. She received her Bachelorís degree from the University of Michigan in 1993 with a major in English Literature and a minor in Spanish and then worked as a high school English and Spanish teacher at Port Huron High School for three years. After taking time off to be a stay at home mother, Michelle went on to earn her Masterís degree in Counseling from Oakland University. Prior to joining the team at Blue Water Counseling, Michelle worked at Communicare Michigan, LLC, for over 2 years serving as a mental health and cognitive therapist for individuals with traumatic brain injury and neurologic impairment. Michelle has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families in areas of mood, anxiety, and thought disorders, neurobehavioral concerns related to traumatic brain injury, relationship issues, behavioral issues, academic concerns, substance abuse, grief and loss, sexual abuse and sexual dysfunction. Michelle lives with her husband and three children in Macomb, Michigan. She enjoys walking, reading, yoga, taking trips to Lake Michigan, and spending time with her family.
