Blue Water Counseling is pleased to announce that eating disorder-focused treatment is available at our Rochester Hills and Fort Gratiot offices. Dr. Mila Velinova, clinical psychologist with a specialty in the assessment and treatment of eating disorders, can provides help in the struggle with food, negative body image, and related cognitive, behavioral, and emotional issues.

Ø       Individual therapy focused on exploration of thinking patterns, emotions, and behaviors maintaining eating problems. Cognitive behavioral therapy is complimented with the exploration of interpersonal and motivational issues.

 

Ø       Family therapy if indicated.

 

Ø       Multi-disciplinary approach to treatment. We will work with your primary care physician and nutritionist. We will provide you with referrals if you do not have a nutritionist. Our psychiatrist can provide medical treatment for other relevant issues, such as depression and anxiety.

 

Ø       Group therapy involving both psychoeducational and process-oriented groups. Please note that group therapy alone is not a sufficient treatment for eating disorders. Prescreening interview for the groups is necessary.

 

Ø       Support group for people taking care of a child/relative/loved one with an eating disorder.

 

Ø       Free information-focused workshops on Saturday, May 5, 12, 19, and 26, and June 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30, 11 am to noon. No pre-registration is necessary. 

 

Ø       We can help both child/teenage and adult, male and female clients. Please note we do not have a specialty in weight loss-focused treatment.

 

Ø      Most major insurances are accepted.

 

Ø       Evening and Saturday appointments available.
